Recent reading (kind of)
Jan. 24th, 2022 09:09 pmListened to Jonathan L. Howard's Johannes Cabal the Detective as an audiobook, which is a new one for me; I can count on one hand the number of audiobooks I've "read", and they were all books on tape my parents put on during road trips when I was in elementary school or younger. (I never had trouble reading in a moving car, so they were a novelty rather than a necessity in terms of road trip entertainment.) This sequel to Johannes Cabal the Necromancer sees Johannes solving a murder mystery while fleeing the country, in disguise, on a luxury aeroship and was, unsurprisingly, a blast and a half.
In other media consumption, I'm on season 2 of The Witcher. I was like, "huh, I wonder if they let Joey Batey [Jaskier] write his own songs this season?", because Burn Butcher Burn sounds a lot like his own band, The Amazing Devil (I can hear the family resemblance to Farewell Wanderlust, in particular) and I was RIGHT.
