Oooh! You've read the first of the Troy books! I love Troy. (I also love how golden age detectives always seem to meet their brides in the course of murder investigations, although at least Alleyn is lucky enough not to meet his when she is on death row like Harriet Vane.)
I also found the artist crew in Artists in Crime fascinating, although MAN, there is some really thirties sex & gender stuff going on in there. I always felt sorry for the poor murdered model, with the dismissive way everyone talked about her.
