I'd originally heard the story on either a true crime or history podcast some years back, and then I heard they were making it into a musical, and then I completely forgot about it until it showed up on Broadway. It's a crying shame it's closing so soon, because it really is such a good show— and also because they'd originally been selling tickets through October 8, which meant that there was exactly one weekend in which I could do the funniest possible thing and double-feature Dead Outlaw with the upcoming return of Beetlejuice to Broadway.
