Oh, yeah, Theseus Is The Worst is definitely a theme of this book. It seemed, for most of the book, that Dionysus was an exception to the overarching theme of Men And Also The Gods Are The Worst, although he grows increasingly dark over the course of it, culminating in the Madness of Argos. Interestingly, Perseus is seen as The Worst - both by Ariadne, who sympathizes with Medusa, and by Dionysus, who hates him for more personal reasons - but when he actually shows up, it's as a fairly sympathetic portrayal, as a mortal who is under pressure by the gods (specifically, Hera)? Daedalus and Hippolytus are also Good, and also Victims.

Ugh, the more I think about this book the more nits I have to pick with it. I'm downgrading it from 1/2 to 0.5/2 on the hit-or-miss scale.
